Kenneth O. Wenzel, age 85, of Sebewaing, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.
Ken was born March 17, 1928 (St. Patrick's Day) in Rogers City, MI, the oldest son of the late Otto and Elsa (Berg) Wenzel. Before entering into the Army, as a teen he enjoyed sailing the Great Lakes. He is a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. After the war he attended college, earning his B.A. at Central Michigan University and his Masters Degree from the University of Michigan. On June 21, 1958 he married Dorothy L. Hanke at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He retired in 1988 as a teacher for the USA Schools. He was a member of the Sebewaing VFW, Immanuel Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, going hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Ken is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Wenzel; children: Julie (Bryan) Beuschel, Jan Wenzel and Carol (Jim) Koch; grandchildren: Brad, Beth, Chad and Chris Koch, Mark, Grant and Nathan Beuschel; siblings: Beverly (late Norman) Wirgau, Audrey (late Louie) Lewandowski and Rodger (Carol) Wenzel.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-9pm.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
