Kerry R. Ball

Kerry R. Ball of Caro, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Kerry was born March 11, 1950 in Cass City, the son of the late Kenneth and Betty (Silvernail) Ball. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1967. He was drafted into the U.S. Army shortly after and was stationed in Germany for two years before his honorable discharge in 1972. Kerry was united in marriage with Carol L. Sherman in 1970, and the couple was blessed with three loving children. His working years were spent at the Eaton/Grede Foundry in Vassar as a mold maker and inventory manager, retiring in 2007. Kerry was also a co-owner of Old Castle Muffler in Caro for over ten years. He centered his life around family and will be remembered as a man that was always ready to help someone in need. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them camping or anything else to send them home spoiled. Kerry had a love-hate relationship with car repair, but his skill was undeniable. He also liked woodworking and running Bingo at the Caro American Legion Post where he was a faithful member for many years. Kerry is survived by three children and their spouses, Jennifer & Larry Zapfe of Caro, Keri & Don Kempisty of Owendale, Joe Ball & Stacey Kukla of Deford; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Cami Ball of Vassar, Corey & Amber Zapfe of Caro, Dakota & Sydney Zapfe of Caro, Marissa Petiprin Ball of Owendale, Courtney Kempisty of Owendale, Ryan Kempisty of Owendale, Caitlyn Kukla of Caro, Laken Kukla of Caro; two great-grandsons, Hayden and Clayton Zapfe of Caro; four siblings and their spouses, Kenneth & Bev Ball, Kim & Sharon Ball, Kris & Shelley Ball, Kelley Skinner & Richard Letts, all of Caro; and many nieces and nephews In keeping with Kerry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Caro American Legion Post #7. Military honors under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army will follow the service.
