Kurt Harry Schaefer

Kurt Harry Schaefer of Caro, age 92, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Kurt was born August 25, 1930 in Detroit, the son of the late Herman and Johanna (Steurberg) Schaefer. Kurt graduated from high school and went on to work at Buick as an experimental machinist for over forty-two years, retiring in 1992. He married the love of his life, the former Mona Sadler, in 1953. This year they celebrated sixty-nine wonderful years of marriage. Kurt enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, and watching baseball and football. He was happiest at home, spending time with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. Kurt leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mona; sons, Greg, Gary, and Reed; grandchildren, Gregory, Jr., Corey, Kara, Kelton, and Curtis; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dona Svoboda; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kurt was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Wiebrect and Mary Ann Mills. In keeping with Kurt's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 12:00 Noon at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Reverend Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private inurnment will be held at Novesta Township Cemetery.
