L. Dean Karr, 75, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006 at Covenant Health Care -Harrison in Saginaw, following a lingering illness. He was born September 8, 1930 in Cass City, the son of the late Floyd Helen (Reed) Karr and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 1950. Dean was united in marriage to the former Doris M. Franklin on August 5, 1950 in Cass City. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Caro and lived here since. Dean was employed by Eaton Manufacturing Co. in Vassar for over 30 years, retiring in February of 1983. He also worked part-time at Caro Community Hospital as an aide for 10 years and attended Delta College to become an EMT. After his retirement, he worked for Paron Management of Cleveland, OH for fourteen years. Dean and his wife were very active in the Caro First Baptist Church activities, where he served as a Deacon, Usher, Trustee, and on other various committees. Dean enjoyed a variety of activities that included fishing, hunting, camping, boating, riding his motorcycle, water skiing, playing his guitar and especially loved being with his family and his grandchildren. Dean is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Doris M. Karr of Caro; two sons, two daughters their spouses, Alan Alexsandra Karr of Kalamazoo, Sharon Jim LaPratt of Caro, Debra David Miller of Sebewaing, Kim Melanie Karr of Grandville; nine grandchildren, David and Cora Karr, Jason and Matthew LaPratt, Kristie (John) Culbert and Amy (Mike) Bull, Adam Link, Kristin McElreath, and Natalie Miller; four great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Ellis Karr of Caro and Althea “Dolly” Misch of Cass City, and several nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his step-father, William McKinley; infant granddaughter, Tiffany Karr and one brother, Robert Karr.
