Larry Andrew Cross

Larry Andrew Cross of Caro, age 77, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community. Larry was born October 25, 1945 in Cass City, the son of the late Donald Cross and Bertha (Esckilsen) Hahn. He graduated from Kingston high school and went on to travel with the carnival for many years. Larry loved the time he spent with the carnival, he was able to see many different cities and meet people from all walks of life. He lived in Oklahoma for many years and became a huge fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. When Larry moved back to Michigan you could always find him riding his bike or sitting at Walmart visiting with everyone. He loved to make people laugh and never met a stranger. Larry enjoyed collecting dolphins and salt & pepper shakers, going to garage sales, and dressing up as Santa Claus. He liked different things and always made it a point to befriend those that may be considered “different.” Larry had a boyish charm, boisterous laugh, a twinkle in his eye, and a fire in his soul. He had a deep faith in Christ and his family meant everything to him. Larry will be missed dearly for years to come.

Larry leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Andrew (Kristi) Defrates; grandchildren, Connor, Kyron, Kaidon, and Astraea; siblings, Jeannette Shaver, Donna Cross, Betty (Larry) Hendricks, Diane Hahn, and Joe (Christine) Hahn; sister-in-law, Sue Cross; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Cross and Dennis Cross; and step-father, Simon Hahn.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for a later date. Larry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Tuscola County Medical Care Community for the exceptional care and compassion they showed Larry.
