Larry W. Howell

Larry W. Howell of Reese, age 79, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Brian’s House in Essexville. Larry was born January 27, 1944, in Bay City, the son of the late Curtis and Margaret (Murphy) Howell of Fairgrove. On August 18, 1973, he was united in marriage with Cindy Poppy. Larry was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Richville, where he served as an usher and elder over the years. He worked in the construction trade for several years before beginning his own business, Howell Contracting, which he ran until his retirement in 2005.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy, of fifty years; two sons, Kurt Howell of Fairgrove and Ben (Brittany) Howell of Akron; three grandchildren, Lily, Mae, and Isla; brother, Tim (Kathy) Howell of Fairgrove; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Nan (Dave) Kober of Thompsonville and Roxanne (Leo) Ainsworth of Unionville. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Carol (Mike) Streeter; and nephews, Josh Ainsworth and Pat Streeter.

In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville with Rev. Wes Gillaspie officiating. The family will be present to receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service.
