Larry James Karpovich of Caro, age 76, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home, following a period of declining health. Larry was born August 29, 1944 in Caro, the son of the late Wesley & Evelyn (Heinlein) Karpovich. He grew up on the family farm raising cattle and crops, which he continued to do in his early adulthood. He graduated from Fairgrove High School with the class of 1963 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge after four years of service, Larry began a forty-four year career at Grede Foundry in Vassar, retiring in 2005. Larry was an avid longbow hunter and was a member of the Tuscola County Archery Club and the Professional Bowhunters of America. He was also fascinated by Native American culture and enjoyed hunting for arrowheads. Larry is survived by three children and their spouses, Rodney & Stacy Karpovich of Davison, Stephanie & David Smith of Hemlock, Dustin Karpovich of Caro; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cayden, and Colton; two siblings and their spouses, Romey & Judy Karpovich of Detroit, Linsey & Brody Borodychuk of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering to share stories of Larry's life will be held at his residence from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 2496 South Sheridan Road, Caro, MI 48723.
