Larry John Krueger

On Saturday, September 10, 2022, Larry John Krueger of Unionville, age 74, loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home. He was born February 4, 1948, to Herbert Charles Krueger and Zella Irene (Hayes) Krueger of Monroe, Michigan. Larry served in the Army National Guard for twelve years and earned a Master's degree in graphic arts from Eastern Michigan University.  Larry married Claudia Alyce Truax of Plymouth, Michigan on March 18, 1989. He adopted his Stepson, Charles (Andy) and officially became his dad in 1991. Larry and Claudia welcomed their son Herbert Clinton Cooper in September of 1991. Larry worked for the Tuscola Tech Center as a graphics art teacher where he won an award for teacher of the year in 2001. He retired from the center in 2009 after 29 years. He was a long-time member of the Unionville Moravian Church and the Bay City Civitan Club. Larry was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting and was a dedicated member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved carving and collecting duck decoys and Ducks Unlimited prints. Larry was a history enthusiast, he was known for his storytelling and sharing his knowledge. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing Cribbage with his brother Herb, traveling with his wife, and making hermit cookies with his sons and grandchildren every Christmas holiday.  Larry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Claudia, whom he fondly referred to as "The War Department”; their sons, Charles "Andy" Krueger (wife, Megan), and Herbert "Clint" Krueger; grandchildren, Dean, Andrew, Eloise, and Merida Krueger; sister, Nancy Dupont; many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zella and Herbert Krueger, and brother Herbert Krueger. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Unionville Moravian Church, 2711 Cass Street, Unionville, Michigan, 48767. Larry's family will be present to receive visitors on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro, and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his 11:00 a.m. service.
