Elenora Radcliffe, age 86 years, of Caro, passed away at her residence on Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born on June 22, 1922 in Flint to the late Phillip and Lilly (Ponath) Peters. Her family moved to Caro when she was a young child. Elenora attended Caro High School and on March 20, 1941, the former Laura Elenora Peters married Cecil Radcliffe in Toledo, Ohio. In addition to being a homemaker, Elenora was the first certified female police officer in the Village of Caro. She not only was a desk officer at the Police Department, she also filled in at the Water Department. Elenora was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Caro since 1968. She enjoyed riding horses and had horses from the late 1940s until 1990. She is survived by her husband, Cecil; two sons, Rodney Radcliffe of St. Francis, Kansas and Wesley (Barbara) Radcliffe of Caro; seven grandchildren, Rodney Radcliffe II of Decker, Kimberly Radcliffe of Minden City, Rochelle (Jerry) Connor of S. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lt. Daniel (Lisa) Radcliffe USN of Guam, Heather Radcliffe of Sunrise, Florida, Jason (Sharon) Radcliffe of Pt. Hueneme, California, Jennifer (Kevin) Reinecke of Palm Bay, Florida; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Maxine) Peters of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother, Phyllis Mis, Betty Curry, Ruth Alderfer and Ray Brown. The funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Caro on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronald Wigand officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation.
