Laurence Atkerson

Laurence Atkerson of Caro, age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Laurence was born November 26, 1941 in Yaleta, Texas, the son of the late Carless & Jennie (Jones) Atkerson. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was united in marriage with the former June Kuranty on November 28, 1964 in Mount Morris. The couple celebrated fifty years of marriage prior to her death on February 14, 2015. L.A. was a lifetime entrepreneur starting many businesses. Laurence is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Dawn & Mark Vollmar of Caro, Shelley & Steven Vollmar of Warrenton, Virginia; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jesse & Natalie Vollmar of Ann Arbor, Jordan & Kristin Vollmar of Caro, Tess & Cody Harper of Warrenton, Virginia, Rachel & Seth Behrends of Brandy Station, Virginia; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings and spouses, Don & Renee Atkerson of Caro, Cathy Conley of Florida, Colleen & Jim McCloskey of Caro; devoted friend, Joyce McPhail; and several nieces and nephews. A Loyal Order of the Moose service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services, which will immediately follow the Moose memorial service, will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday, September 17, 2021 with Pastor Michael Wester officiating. Military honors, afforded by the U.S. Army, Caro American Legion Post #7, and Caro VFW Post #4164, will follow the service.
