Lawrence H. "Larry" Ohlrogge

Lawrence (Larry) H. Ohlrogge, age 87, a lifelong resident of Pigeon died Friday evening, June 27 at Scheurer Hospital.
He was born July 25, 1920 to the late Fred and Anna (Trost) Ohlrogge at the family home in Pigeon, where he lived his entire life. On January 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Norene Warner at Cross Lutheran Church. Larry farmed the family farm in Winsor Twp., retiring in the late 1980’s. He served in the U.S.Navy at the end of WWII in Saipan and Okinawa. He was a member of the Saginaw Temple Theatre Organ Club. Larry was a long time member of Cross Lutheran Church, then at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linkville. He loved and served the Lord Jesus Christ and encouraged many to “stay in God’s Word”. He enjoyed music, especially hymns and marches. He played the organ, accordion, and baritone. He enjoyed logging and had a passion for motorcycles, especially his 1937 Indian.
Surviving are his son, Ken (Sandy) Ohlrogge of Pueblo West, CO, three step-grandchildren: Elizabeth (Brad) Bengford with two children Kyle and Brennen, Christopher Flores, and Julia Shelhamer; and his son, Kevin (“Debbie doll”) Ohlrogge of Highland, MI with two step grandchildren: Anthony Raimondo and Jennifer (Mike) Susan with children: Taylor, Avery, Michael, and Riley. Larry also served as father and dad to John (Brigid) Trowbridge (nephew) of Pigeon, MI with children Aaron (Terra) Mallais, Brandis Mallais, and Wesley Lawrence Trowbridge. Also surviving is his loving sister, Elsie Trowbridge of Pigeon.
Preceding him in going to heaven were his wife of 56 years, Norene, April 13, 2006, and daughter-in-law, Liz Ohlrogge, Nov. 18, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 Wednesday, July 2, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linkville. Pastor Lee Wenskay will officiate with burial in Cross Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton, and at the church after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Building Fund, Cross Lutheran Cemetery Fund or any Christian mission organization.
