Lee Ann Kulhanek

We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Lee Ann (Strachan) Kulhanek of Caro, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Saginaw on August 29, 1948, Lee Ann was raised as a “military brat” all across the country, living with her parents Donald and Jean (Weideman) Strachan in Albany, Georgia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Beaufort, South Carolina, before finally settling down in Caro when her father retired from the Marine Corp. Upon arriving, she enrolled in Caro High School as a senior, graduating in 1966 before attending the Saginaw Business Institute. Lee Ann worked for a time in Saginaw at Second National Bank before leaving the workforce to raise her two beloved children, Ronnie and Angie. She later returned to Caro and started work as a bookkeeper for the Tuscola Intermediate School District, retiring as the business manager in 2011.

Lee Ann was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she attended bible studies. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards and board games, and getting together for lunch with friends and family. In her later years, she also loved the word-search books with which she occupied much of her free time. Lee Ann had an active social life with many treasured friends, including her MS support group, bible study class, and her “prairie girls.” Lee Ann took her duties as a grandmother seriously; she was deeply devoted to her family and supported her nephews and grandchildren in everything they did. She is remembered as a sweet and thoughtful woman who was fiercely independent but generous with her time and affection. Throughout her life Lee Ann met every challenge with smile on her face and just a little bit of her dry sense of humor.

Lee Ann is survived by children, Ronald Kulhanek and Angie Kulhanek; grandchildren, Jorden (Presleigh Fleece) Kulhanek and Anthony Kulhanek; an expected great granddaughter; and brother, Steve Strachan; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, many special friends including her life-long friend Sherrie Endersbee, and close friend and caregiver Tammy Koop.

In addition to her parents, Lee Ann is reunited in death with her treasured sister, Sue Asher, who she missed deeply.

A funeral service for Lee Ann will be held at 11:00 a.m. on her birthday, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 910 West Frank Street, Caro, MI, with Fr.
