Leila Grace Becker

Leila Grace Becker of Caro, age 88, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, following a period of declining health. She was born July 11, 1924 in Caro, the daughter of the late Earl & Bevella (Bearup) Loomis. Leila will be remembered first and foremost as a mother and caregiver to her family. She also worked as a waitress for many years in Flint until taking a position at United Plastics in Vassar until the plant closed in the mid 1980's. Leila also worked as an AVON representative and as a home daycare provider for several years. She was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and thoroughly enjoyed the fifteen years spent living at the Caro Senior Commons. Leila also liked playing bingo, puzzles, recycling, making ceramics, and possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Surviving are four children and their spouses, Gary & Carol Becker of Caro, Linda & David Orow of Commerce Township, Sandra & Alvin Manning of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Keith & Darcy Becker of Sultan, Washington; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Nick & Laura Becker of Oxford, Mark & Tina Becker of Suttons Bay, Robbin & Damian Wasik of Caro, Jamie & Lisa Parker of Howell, Nathan Manning and Michael Manning, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Diana Graham of North Bergen, New Jersey, Jessica & Sean Ansell of Sultan, Washington; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Asplund of Mt. Morris; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Leila was preceded in death by two children, infant son, Robert Allen Becker and daughter, Diana Leigh Becker in 1974; and one brother, Roy Loomis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Burial will follow on Wednesday at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The Becker family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Caro United Methodist Church and the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for their dedicated care and compassion over the last several years.
