Leland Sayers

Leland W. Sayers, age 87, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Agape Care Systems in Caro, following a lingering illness. He was born on September 15, 1924 on the family farm in Caro, the son of the late Walter and Julia (Uhan) Sayers. Lee was a lifelong resident of Caro. Leland was united in marriage with the former Louise Kosiara on April 23, 1949 in Gaylord. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2010. For over fifty years he operated the homestead farm with both a dairy and cash crop. Along with farming, he worked at the Sugar Factory during campaigns, and for a few years he was employed with W.L. Clark & Company. Lee enjoyed working the ground, going for Sunday drives, and loved deer hunting and playing cards with friends. He was a member of the Michigan Milk Producers. Lee is survived by three children and their spouses, Peter & Norma Sayers of Caro, Lottie & James Nichols of Clio, Albert & Karen Sayers of Caro; ten grandchildren, Michael & Diana Sayers of Bay City, Julie & Shawn Lepage of Windsor, Ontario, Christopher Nichols and friend, Cassandra Hersey of Akron, Marie & Michael VanderKuur of Swartz Creek, Susan & David Brunori of Milford, Cathy Nichols of Clio, Steven & Natasha Nichols of Clio, Carrie Sayers of Grand Rapids, Enoch Sayers of Caro, Lesa Sayers of Grand Rapids; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Roose of Caro; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Britton and Helen Sayers. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m..
