Leo Eberline Jr., age 84, of Caseville, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Home Sweet Home in Pigeon after a long battle with cancer.
Leo was born July 9, 1922 in Flint to the late Leo and Anna (Ebert) Eberline. He grew up and attended school in Flint before entering into the US Army. Leo served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
On March 30, 1944 he married Doris Cummings in Flint. Doris died October 4, 1981. Leo married Ellen Baloga in Caseville on October 23, 1982. Ellen died December 5, 2005.
Leo was employed for 35 years at the Chevrolet Assembly Plant in Flint, retiring October 1, 1974. He then moved permanently to Caseville. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Caseville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially golfing in the later years of his life. He golfed in leagues at Bird Creek and Pte. Aux Barques.
He is survived by his daughter Sandy and her husband John Swales of Bear Lake and son Jim of Hillman; grandchildren Jeff (Michelle) Kikta, Julie (Ken) Richardson, Angela (Alan) Fisher, Christina (Ken) Goddard, Jim and Joshua Eberline; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Vivian Thacker of Flint; sister-in-law Margie Eberline of Cass City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother William Eberline.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 Wednesday, June 6th at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Caseville, with Pastor Jim Nihiser officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Roch Cemetery, Caseville.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville and from 10:00 AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
