Leo J. Kolowich

Leo J. Kolowich, age 95, of Sand Point died Sunday evening, April 11, 2004 at Scheurer Hospital from a ruptured aneurysm.

He was born November 15, 1908 in Detroit to the late Peter and Frances Kolowich. On May 18, 1938, he was united in marriage to Helen M. Guenther at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Utica.

Leo and Helen owned and operated The Shamrock Restaurant in Utica for 30 years, selling in 1968. At that time he became a real estate broker operating Pine Tree Real Estate, retiring in 1978. In 1974, they started coming to Caseville and built a cottage on Sand Point, retiring there in 1980. He was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, the Caseville Eagles Club, Caseville Retirement Club and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8042.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Helen; two children, Dennis (Linda) Kolowich of Alameda, CA and Judi (Donald) Wagner of Shelby Twp.; three grandchildren, Brad, Wendy and Kelly; a great granddaughter, Ellie and his brother, Ralph Kolowich of Dearborn.

A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, April 15, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
A Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be conducted 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville where friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Wednesday.
