Leo Parker

Leo Parker, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday January 22, 2007 at Bay Special Care Hospital, following a lingering illness. He was born August 28, 1938 in Pontiac, the son of the late David M. & Frances (Wixson) Parker. He came to Caro with his parents from Auburn Heights at the age of nine years. He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1955, serving until 1959. During that time, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Laura E. Bishop on June 15, 1957 in Caro at the Methodist Church. In 1963, they moved to Bad Axe when Leo was hired by Detroit Edison as a lineman. He continued with this employment for the next 36 years, retiring in 1999. Leo cherished being with his family, his grandchildren, and coaching any sport one of his children might be involved with, including Little League and football, playing golf, working in his yard and wood-working. Surviving are his wife of nearly 50 years, Laura E. Parker of Bad Axe; five children and their spouses, Sallie B. & Mark Pifer of Caro, Mark L. & Debra Parker of Lapeer, Scott A. & Celeste Parker of Bad Axe, Lon S. & Linda Parker of Warren, Pamela J. & Brian Wisneski of Caro; sixteen grandchildren, Cody, Ian, Talena, Amanda, Joshua, Trista, Corey, Cody, Hannah, Rylyn, Mitchell, Tifini, Lucas, Brett, Jefferson and Chelsea; two sisters and their husbands, Marilynn & H. Dale Cubitt of Bad Axe, Lucille & Raymond Sopchik of Caro and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin & Marvin Parker.
