Leola Childs

Leola Childs of Caro, age 92, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Caro Community Hospital. Leola was born August 10, 1924 at home in Columbia Township, the youngest of eight children born to the late Edwin and Mary Ella (Lauderbach) Childs. She graduated from Unionville High School, went on to attend County Normal, and went on to teach at the Remington Country School. Leola then worked as a bookkeeper at Michigan Bean Company and at Production Credit Company. Leola enjoyed traveling, cooking, parties, cake decorating, flowers, gardening, and music, playing the organ and singing in various ladies groups. Leola is survived by a sister-in-law, Harriett Childs; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lester Childs, Harriett Rayl, Jessie Clark, Calvin Childs, Almeta Turner, Byron Childs and Leon Childs. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tony Tomasino officiating. Burial at Columbia Township Cemetery, Dickerson Road, will follow the luncheon.
