Leon H. Storm
(November 9, 1937 - March 21, 2015)
Leon H. “Bud” Storm, 77, of Caseville and formerly of Lake Orion, died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Bud was born November 9, 1937, in Pontiac to the late Leon B. and Catharine (Neeley) Storm. He graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1956. On January 26, 1963, he married Rose Cudnohufsky, who survives, at Central Christian Church, Pontiac.
Bud and his father Leon had a family-owned construction business. They built steel buildings, concrete constructions, farm buildings and residential homes. Bud and his father Leon also built many buildings in the Lake Orion and Oxford areas including Jacobsen’s Flowers, Milosch’s Car Dealership, the former Oxford Lumber Company (twice), and the Oxford Leader buildings.
Bud was an avid farmer and attended Michigan State University to study agriculture. He raised sheep on the family property and farm right on M24 and many local people would often stop to look at the lambs in the Spring. Bud and his family were also known for selling pumpkins in front of their home. They sold pumpkins for over 20 years.
After his father retired from the construction business, Bud was hired as a Orion Township building inspector. Bud and his wife Rose retired in 2004, and moved from Lake Orion to their home in Caseville, an 1860 farmhouse that they had carefully restored and rebuilt over the previous 30 years. He was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, Oakland County 4-H, and a National Ski Patrolman. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and using his skills as a craftsman and gardener to beautify their home.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Melynda (Gilbert) Rushlau of Grand Rapids, Geoffrey (Debra) of South Carolina and Krista of Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jared, Camdyn, Shelby and Justin; and his sister, Ardis (James) Pearce of Oxford.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Calvary Baptist Church, Caseville, with Pastor Mike Goforth officiating.
An additional memorial service will be held in June at the Lake Orion United Methodist Church on Flint Street. Details will be announced later in the Spring.
