Leona I. Holdburg, age 95, of Caro passed away on September 30, 2009 at Rendon Young at Heart AFC Home in Caro. She was born on January 18, 1914 in Caro to the late Louis and Justine (Turner) Honold. She was a lifelong resident of Caro and a 1932 Caro High School graduate. The former Leona Honold married Howard Holdburg on August 1, 1935 in Elmwood Township. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1999. In addition to being a homemaker, Leona worked in the family business, the Palace Meat Market, the Yankee store, and Hansens Hardware. She belonged to the Caro Garden Club and the Wixon Club of Caro, and was a life member of the Caro United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She is survived by one son, two daughters and their spouses, Norris and Cheryl Holdburg of Cass City, Janet and Gene Taggett of Caro and Lorna and George Gray of Vassar; a son-in-law, Jerry Fader and his wife, Mary, of Caro; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Alfred Holdburg of Troy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Fader; a daughter-in-law, Shirleen Holdburg; and her siblings, Marie Peterhans and Geraldine LaPratt. The funeral service will be held at the Caro United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Caro United Methodist Church. .
