Leona "Lois" Irion, age 84, of Unionville/Sebewaing area, passed away April 1, 2015, at Vadavilla AFC Home in Unionville.
Lois was born October 17, 1930, to the late Herbert and Leona (Harmon) Strieter. She married Gerald Albert Irion on October 10, 1951. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a teaching degree. She started teaching in the local country schools and ended her career at the USA Schools after 30+ years of teaching. She enjoyed teaching and tutoring. She had a true understanding for children. She also enjoyed playing and listening to music, baking desserts, reading and working crossword puzzles.
Lois is survived by her children: Candice (Richard) Huddleston of Spokane, Washington, Kathy Irion of Pace, Florida, and Vicky Irion of Sebewaing, Michigan; special friend of the family, John Sigmund; siblings: Edith LaValley and Harmon "Buster" Strieter; and many nieces and nephews.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; siblings: Don Strieter, Ruth Hughes, Phyllis Schweitzer, Betty Knack, Maxine Moore, Robert Strieter, Roy Strieter and Herbert "Toby" Strieter.
Cremation was handled by Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
