Leonard W. Bumhoffer

Leonard W. Bumhoffer, age 87 of Elkton went to be with his Lord Saturday evening, September 5, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility, Bad Axe.
He was born February 21, 1922 in Sebewaing Twp. at the Home of his parents, the late Anton and Catherine (Metzger) Bumhoffer.
On September 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Erna L. Lange at St. John's Lutheran Church, Port Hope and moved to a farm in Oliver Twp., later on they moved in to Elkton. Leonard was very devoted to his wife of 56 years and to his family. Erna preceded him in death August 13, of last year.
Leonard farmed for a while and had been employed at Elkton Co-op Farm Produce for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher for many years and past president of the Elkton Historical Society. He enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and was very active in the historical society until his health did not permit it. Leonard was kind and caring, and loved by all who knew him.
Surviving are three children, Donna (John) Chiotti of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Robert (Dolores) Bumhoffer of Sand Point and Ronald (Janet) Bumhoffer of Elkton; five grandchildren, Juli Chiotti of Phoenix, AZ, Micah Chiotti of Washington DC, Clifton (Nicole) Bumhoffer of St. Louis, MO, Jonathan and Samuel Bumhoffer of Sand Point and his brother, Edward (Ann) Bumhoffer of Elkton.
Preceding him in death were his brother, Carl Bumhoffer and his sisters, Mary Bumbach and Gertrude Metzger.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, September 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton. Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Elkton Historical Society, Huron Co. Med. Care or the donors choice.
