Leonard Paul Weiler

Leonard Paul Weiler of Kalkaska, formerly of Mayville, age 73, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2020 at his son's home. Leonard was born April 13, 1947 in Mayville, the son of the late Harry and Emma (Stilwell) Weiler. He was united in marriage with the former Kay Richmond on September 7, 1968 in Caro, and she preceded him in death in 2018. Leonard served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He had been employed as a butcher with various local meat packing companies. Leonard believed in treating others as he was treated. He was well known for being a smart aleck but had the heart of Santa whom he enjoyed playing. Leonard is survived by two sons, Randy Weiler of Mayville, John Weiler and wife, Tina, of Kalkaska; three grandchildren, Brent Warren, Miranda and Colt Weiler; two great-grandchildren, Kade and Caylee Weiler; "adopted" children, Jack Flynn, Todd Louks, and whoever came to the door needing a bed; one sister, Ruthann Hercliff and husband, Richard; and a brother-in-law, Luke Giddings. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Visitation will conclude with military honors afforded by the U.S. Army and the Caro American Legion Post #7.
