Leora Faye Rhodes was received into the arms of her Lord, January 14, 2009 at Covenant Health Care-Cooper in Saginaw. She was 80 years of age, having been born on February 22, 1928 in Alverton, Ohio to the late Rev. Elmer and Mildred (Haynes) Town. She came to Carson City, Michigan in her teens and graduated from high school there. Leora Faye Town and Milton Devere Rhodes were married on September 30, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2005. She was a loving wife and mother. Leora loved her Lord and her church, the Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church. She enjoyed hockey, the Detroit Tigers, a good meal, and playing UNO with her grandchildren. In later years, she enjoyed traveling to Louisiana to visit her granddaughter. Having her family around her was the most important thing in her life; she was a peacemaker and had a very forgiving heart. She is survived by six children, Barbara Rhodes Maxwell of Caro, Shirley and Richard Tuckey of Caro, Donna Rhodes of Caro, Debra Rhodes Lowe of Caro, Charles and Jeanne Rhodes of Owendale and Clyde and Lynn Rhodes of Owendale; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Triva) Town of Marion, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Marlin and Corvin Town. The funeral service will be held at the Colwood United Brethren in Christ Church on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Phil Whipple officiating. Burial will be at Ellington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday, January 16, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Leora Rhodes family discretionary fund, c/o Donna Rhodes.
