Lepha Ellen Fensch, 104, of Pigeon, died Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Scheurer Long Term Care Unit in Pigeon.
Ellen was born on April 4, 1917 in North Branch to the late Guy and Lepha (Leavens) Ross. She graduated from North Branch High School in 1934 where she played clarinet in the band. After graduating, Ellen attended business college and worked in the North Branch Bank. Ellen married Willard “Bud” Fensch on September 28, 1940 in North Branch; he preceded her in death on July 25, 2013. At this time, she worked at NAPA Auto Parts in the billing department. In 1961, she began working in the counseling department at East Detroit High School and she remained in this role until her retirement. Following her retirement, she moved to a home on Elk Lake where she enjoyed golfing and playing bridge. Ellen later moved to Pigeon where she lived at Country Bay Village until moving to Scheurer Long Term Care in 2017.
Ellen is survived by her daughter Karen (Wade) Lightheart of Florida; grandchildren Steven (Karen) Lightheart and Kimberly (Jerome) Yaklic; great-grandchildren Mary Ellen, Rebecca, Christopher, Ryan and Samantha; sister Marjorie Orr and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Doris and Phyllis.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
