Leroy Blackmer

LeRoy Blackmer, age 64, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a three year struggle with cancer. He was born September 29, 1947 in Saginaw, the son of the late Claude & Regina (Linctot) Blackmer. He was united in marriage with the former Ethelyn Olive Sherwood on June 20, 1970 in Unonville. She preceded LeRoy in death on June 15, 2008. LeRoy was employed in a variety of jobs during his working life, the longest at a grain elevator in Vassar for over twenty years before they closed. LeRoy was a member of the Juniata Baptist Church and enjoyed driving out in the country side with his wife and family, fishing, collecting scrap metal to work on and cooking on the holidays for his family. Surviving LeRoy are seven children and their spouses, Ruth McConnell of Caro, Robert & Patsy VanWormer of Saginaw, Ethelyn VanWormer of Caro, Alice Shamel of Reese, Alfred Rayner of Caro, LeRoy Blackmer, Jr. of Lapeer, Audrey Sipes and her fianc
