LeRoy Howard Schweitzer, age 83, of Sebewaing, passed away peacefully at Bay View Gardens in Sebewaing, surrounded by his family on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
LeRoy was born on January 19, 1942, in Bad Axe, son of the late Howard and Jessie (Diefenbach) Schweitzer. He married the love of his life, Arlene Ruth Nimtz, on February 5, 1966. Arlene preceded him in death on March 6, 2022. He retired from American Brownhoist and Sebewaing Industries.
LeRoy was a Navy veteran and proudly served from 1960-1964. He was an antique dealer with a booth at the Bay City Antiques Center for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseshoes and bowling.
LeRoy is survived by his children: LeAnn Schweitzer-Treder of Bay City, Arick (Stacie) Schweitzer of Bad Axe and Angela Persons of Bay City; grandchildren: Cody Treder and Ethan Persons (fiancé Halle Altergott) of Bay City; siblings: Kay (Robert) Christner, Judy (Robert) Gravelle, Dennis (Susan) Schweitzer and Jerry Schweitzer; in-laws: Gloria (Kerry) McKeller, Mark (Wendy) Nimtz and JoAnn Ross; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Ruth Nimtz.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. from 4pm-8pm.
The funeral service will be Friday, December 19, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Boyer.
Cremation has taken place and will be laid to rest with Arlene at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Memorial donations may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.
A special thank you to the staff of Bay View Gardens and Heartland Hospice including our special angels: Joyce and Stacey, his nurse practitioner from the VA Hospital in Saginaw, Emily Spiker and his homecare nurse, Rocky.
