Lester P. Hunyadi, age 95, of Caseville, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2005 at
his home.
He was born April 26, 1910 in Ered, Hungary near Budapest to the late Victor
and Maria (Koncsek) Hunyadi. Lester went to trade school to become a cabinetmaker. He came to the U.S. in 1930, settling in Hamtramck, and found
work in a foundry.
On April 27, 1935, he was united in marriage to Irene Novak at All Saints Catholic Church in Detroit.
Lester began working for the J. L. Hudson Company in the late thirties, retiring in 1972. That same year they moved to Caseville.
He is a member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville Eagles Club and the Knights of Columbus #8042 Caseville-Pigeon.
Surviving are his daughter, Barbara Meyer and her husband, Greg of Caseville; granddaughter, Michelle, her husband, Doug Wiederhold and family, Heather, Holly & Dave Webb, their children, Angel and Alexis; Kory & wife,
Janelle; Heidi and Kyle; grandson, Jeff, his wife Kim, their children, Amber and Matt Beyer and Ashley Meyer; grandson, Mark, his wife, Lesa Meyer and children, Andy, his daughter, Madison; Christopher, Laura, Emily and Erin.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Hunyadi of Roseville and Carol Werner of Heartland; dear friends, Grace McKinzie and Harold Leach both of Caseville.
Preceding him in death were his son, Michael; two brothers, John and Victor Hunyadi and a sister, Irene Kovack.
A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Friday, August 19, at St. Roch
Catholic Church, Caseville with Fr. Kenneth Yaroch presiding. Burial will be in St. Roch Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville, and from 10:00 AM Friday until the time of Mass at church. There will be an Eagle's Ritual at 7:00 PM Thursday and a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 PM.
Memorials may be made to the family.
