Lewis W. Nowlen of Caro, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his home. He was born May 22, 1953 in Pontiac, the son of the late Henry and Edith (Tipper) Nowlen. He moved to Tuscola County as a teenager and returned to the city to finish high school, graduating from Walled Lake Central High School. Lewis was a machinist by trade, and was known for his pleasing personality and love of reading. Whether it be a novel or a law book, he had a thirst for knowledge. Lewis was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Caro Lodge 1049. Lewis is survived by one son, Jason Nowlen and his wife, Kate, of Royal Oak; a granddaughter, Adeline Nowlen; seven siblings and their spouses, Dale & Judy Nowlen of Arizona, Dennis & Brenda Nowlen of Burton, Carol & Taft Taylor of Gaylord, Mike Nowlen of Caro, Terri & Doug Collier of Caro, Jeff & Laura Nowlen of Caro, Lori Martin of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy and Jim Nowlen. A memorial service led by Lewis' family will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Caro Moose Lodge. A time of remembrance will be held in conjunction with the service and meal.
