Lila G. (Moore) Heck age 95, of Pigeon and West Olive died Sunday evening, April 6, at Sanctuary at the Shore, Grand Haven while under hospice care.

She was born January 7, 1919 in Greenleaf Twp. near Cass City at the home of her parents, the late Claude and Edna (Wurtz) Moore.

On July 8, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alvin K. Heck July 8, 1939 at her parent’s home in Winsor Twp. and raised their family on a farm south of Pigeon. Alvin preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1993.

Lila was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon. She enjoyed traveling, spending 38 winters at their home in Florida. Her hobbies included dominos, making crafts and playing cards, but most of all she loved having her children and grandchildren nearby. Lila always made everyone welcome in her home always having enough to feed one more at her table.

Surviving are her children, Harold Heck of Zephyrhills, FL, Elizabeth (James) Thayer of West Olive and Carl (Marla) Heck of Pigeon; son-in-law, Ray (Sandy) Zottneck of Cincinnati, OH; 21 grandchildren, Aaron (Cathy) Heck, Lynn (Katie) Heck, Christopher (Bernadette) Heck, Rebecca, Steven (Michelle), Eric (Andrea), Scott (Stacey), Jeff (Kim), Jeremy (Christy), Sandrau (Kim), Adam and Michael; 22 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; sister, Marie Buschlen; sisters-in-law, Maude Heck of Pigeon and Genevieve Moore of Vassar and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Sharon Zottneck; daughters-in-law, Karen Heck and Rose Heck; brother, Jack Moore and sister, Helen Delsi.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, April 14, at Salem United Methodist Church, Pigeon. Rev. David Stewart, pastor will officiate with burial next to her husband in Grandlawn Cemetery, Pigeon.

Friends may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton from 3 to 8 PM Sunday and at the church after 10 AM Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Salem United Methodist Church or the donor’s choice.
