Lillian E. Retzler, age 90, of Essexville, formerly of Sebewaing, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center in Holt, MI.
Lillian was born in Gagetown on December 27, 1933, to Peter and Anna (Keller) Leiterman. She graduated from Owengage High School in 1952. She married Donald Retzler on April 18, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2009. Lillian worked for a potato chip factory in Livonia and then for Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing during fall campaigns. She loved being a member of Holy Family Church in Sebewaing, and said her prayers faithfully every evening. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and euchre, appreciated a clean house and enjoyed having her hair styled.
Lillian is survived by her two children: Michael (Lynn) Retzler of Las Vegas, NV and Debra (William) Noga of Mason, MI; grandchildren: Rebecca (Jason) Skoog, Rachel (Tony) Fitzwater, Aaron Noga and Ethan Noga; great grandchildren: Sadie, Mari, Benjamin and Louis; sister, Katherine Avery; and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Rose Kunst, Elizabeth Leiterman, Anna Kothe, Emma Mittz, Margaret Finkbeiner, Marion Hamlin, Esther Leiterman and Francis Leiterman; brothers: Peter Leiterman, Jr. and John Leiterman.
Visitation will be Monday, June 17, 2024 at Juengel-Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.
The funeral mass will be Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 am until the time of service at 10 am. Burial will be at the church cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
Memorial donations may be given to Our Lady Consolata Cemetery (for St. Agatha Cemetery) or BrightFocus Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871 (for macular degeneration research).
