Linda C. Habdas of Mayville, age 85, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026, surrounded by family following a period of declining health.
Linda was born in Caro on June 23, 1940, to the late Walter and Genevieve (Thomas) Bowerman. She graduated from Mayville High School in 1957 and married Thomas Habdas in Caro on June 22, 1985. During her working career, she served as the insurance director for Marlette Homes before later retiring as a Human Resources Director from Walbro.
Linda enjoyed the tranquility of reading by a warm, cozy fireplace during the winter. She loved shopping for anything! She had many hobbies, from working in her flower garden to planting her many flowerpots, as well as enjoying leisurely pontoon rides on Harmon Lake. Linda had a love of travel that took her to many national parks, Las Vegas, Ireland, and on visits “Up North” with Brian and Lisa and other close friends. Tom and Linda attended annual Western Michigan University football games with friends and loved a good euchre game.
Most important to her was the time she spent with family while cooking holiday dinners. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. Being present for her grandchildren’s sporting events was a highlight of her time with them. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as feed Tracey’s horses.
Linda was preceded in death by her best friend and daughter, Lisa Renee Wilmot, on March 25, 2026. She is survived by her husband of over forty years, Thomas Habdas; her son, Darren (Tracey) Mathews; and her son-in-law, Scott Wilmot. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Dustin (Nicole) Wilmot, Leigha (Dan Cheney) Wilmot, Justin Mathews, and Dillon Mathews; and three great-grandchildren, Lakeyn, Alivia, and Taylyn.
Linda's family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro. A Time of Remembrance will take place at 7:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at Watertown Township Cemetery on Friday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the assistance and enjoyable conversation provided by Sue Crumrine, Margaret McGuire, Kathy Knowlton, and Wendy Rand, as well as to Hospice and Heritage Hills Assisted Living for their exceptional care.
