Linda Elaine Keefer

Linda E. Keefer, 70, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe.

Linda was born February 6, 1953 in Pigeon to Robert L. and the late Joyce (DeGrow) Smith.  In 1971 she graduated from Laker High School and then received a teaching degree from Michigan State University.  On November 10, 1973 she married Burt Keefer at Hayes United Methodist Church; they spent their 50th Wedding Anniversary together the day before she passed.

Linda and Burt shared a passion in raising and showing Hackney ponies throughout their life together under the farm name Burlindy Farm.  She retired in 2010 from Laker Schools as an Assistant Agri-Science teacher and FFA advisor.  She was a member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church. She enjoyed gardening and painting.

Linda is survived by her husband Burt; sons Michel (Natalie) of Hartville, Ohio and Matthew (Kari) of Ayden, North Carolina; father Robert L. Smith of Pigeon; grandchildren Lauren, Hayley, Austin K., Austin W., Taylor (Colter) and Sophia; and great-grandchildren Madison and Lane; siblings Robert A. (Kathy) Smith of Caro and Barb (Don) Faupel of Elkton.  She was preceded in death by her sister Betty J. Shetler.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Friday, November 17th at Pigeon River Mennonite Church with Rev. Dave Maurer officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-7 Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Pigeon River Mennonite Church Memorial Fund or the Hunger Relief Project.
