Lloyd Allison Layer, 85, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 at St. Marys of Michigan in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Lloyd was born November 20, 1920 in Fairgrove, the son of the late Ernest & Grace (Choate) Layer. He was united in marriage to the former Pauline L. Kovich on May 10, 1942 in Caro, and the couple cherished 64 years together. Lloyd was employed for International Harvester for 40 years and worked for Jansen Equipment, H.R. Hyde Company, and Hedley Equipment as a parts and shop manager. He was a member of the Caro First Baptist Church, and was a life-member of the Caro Mt. Moriah Lodge 226 and the Caro American Legion Post 7. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and had traveled throughout the United States. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Pauline of Caro; one daughter, Cindy & Tom Sanborn of Caro; two grandchildren, Beth & Ed Ganley of Caro and Cevin Crawford of Caro; one great-granddaughter, Livia Liya-Tomas Ganley of Caro; one sister, Alice M. Howel of Reese, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Layer and brother-in-law, Quenten Howell.
