Lloyd J. Wellman

Lloyd J. Wellman, 86, of Sand Point passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 at home surrounded by his family while under hospice care.

Lloyd was born November 23, 1934 in St. Clair Shores to the late Wallace and Dorothy (McFarland) Wellman. He moved to the Thumb when he was 9 years old and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1955. He served in the US Army in Korea between 1956 and 1958. He married Shirley Miller on January 23, 1960 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe.

Lloyd worked 35 years for General Motors as a journeyman tool and die maker and a supervisor. After retiring he moved to his home on Sand Point. He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Caseville. He enjoyed going to Walt’s Restaurant, country drives watching nature and crops, and his beloved dogs. Lloyd wanted to be remembered for his sense of humor and making people smile...and he will be.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Shirley; daughter Darla (William) Beard of Lansing; granddaughter Teryn Margaret-Ruth (Kellen) Byrd of Kalamazoo; sister Nancy (Leslie) Tomilson of Ontario, Canada and brother James Marengo of Texas.

Funeral services will be private. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
