Lois W. Moore of Caro, age 91, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Lois was born September 6, 1932 at home in Detroit, the daughter of the late Guynn & Elizabeth (Jacksey) Wilcher. She grew up in Detroit where she graduated from Mackenzie High School with the class of 1950. She continued her education at Michigan State University, graduated with a teaching degree in 1955, and was united in marriage with Robert Moore only a few months later on August 13, 1955. Lois and Bob moved to Fowlerville where Bob ran his family’s auto dealership and Lois taught, and later lived in Livonia where Lois continued to teach elementary school. In 1965, the couple moved their family following the purchase of the Ford Agency to create Burton Moore Ford, now Moore Motors. Lois returned to teaching in 1977 at McComb Elementary School where she taught kindergarten until her retirement in 1989. Following retirement, she served a variety of roles with the dealership until the day she passed. Lois was an active member of the Caro United Methodist Church, served as a Cub Scout den mother in her earlier years, and volunteered for the Caro Area Library. She had the extraordinary gift of connecting with people and fostered relationships that lasted a lifetime. She was known to be strong-willed, but also unceasingly kind and genuine. Fridays were reserved for the beauty parlor, and no trip to the store was made before ensuring she had clipped her coupons. She was a devoted family member and an adored friend whose home was always open.
Lois leaves behind two children, Susan Thayer and her husband, Rob, of Kalamazoo, Brad Moore of Caro; five grandchildren, Brad Thayer, DDS of Augusta, Kate Thayer of Salt Lake City, Meredith Moore of Traverse City, Adelyn Moore of Chicago, Jacob Moore of Caro; sister-in-law, Joyce Bailey of East Lansing; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moore; son, Todd W. Moore; and siblings, Wallace Wilcher and Elizabeth Ann Sellars-Evenden.
