Loretta Pearl Thane

Loretta Pearl Thane of St. Paul, Indiana, formerly of Cass City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the age of 89. Loretta was born May 22, 1930 in Columbia Township, the daughter of the late Clyde and Edna (VanWagoner) Rhodes and was a graduate of Unionville High School. She was united in marriage with Willis James Thane on March 3, 1951 at the Colwood United Brethren Church in Caro, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1980. Loretta was employed as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional Center, retiring after twenty-five years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Yahtzee, sewing, reading, crafts, gardening, bird watching, and collecting teacups, saucers, and spoons from places she had visited. Loretta also made grape juice, grape jelly and peanut brittle that her entire family enjoyed. She was a member of the Colwood United Brethren Church where she and her husband had been involved in many activities. Left to cherish her memory are five daughters and their spouses, Patricia & David Putt of Huntington, Indiana, Sherril & John Tarplee of St. Paul, Indiana, Mary & Frederick Jones of East Leroy, Joyce & Robert Sorrell of St. Paul, Indiana, Brenda & Douglas McArthur of Cass City; son-in-law, James Davlantes of Jacksonville, Florida; seventeen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Loretta was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and in addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Jean Davlantes; and one granddaughter, Mindy Jo McMillen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Lee Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at Ellington Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Donor's Favorite Charity.
