Loretta M. "Rita" Woolner, age 94 of Elkton, died Monday morning, August 9, at Sunny Acres Nursing Center.
She was born October 17, 1915 in Grant Twp at the home of her parents the late Olstrum and Wealthy (Sherman) Summers.
On April 28, 1933, she was united in marriage to Milton S. Woolner at the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene. They moved to the Detroit area in 1942 where they raised their family. Loretta was a cook at Stouffers in Detroit for 25 years. After retiring they returned to Huron County. Milton preceded her in death in July of 1988.
She was a member of the Bad Axe Church of the Nazarene enjoyed quitting and doing crossword puzzles.
Surviving are five children, Ernest (Loretta) Woolner of Murriette, CA, Donna Usher of Hazel Park, Robert (Betty) Woolner of Crescant, FL, Lorn (Shirley) Woolner of Mayville and Sharon (Chris) Duffey of Marquette; 23 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a daughter, Linda Eastep; a granddaughter, Debbie Ratliff; four sisters, Hazel Atkinson, Gretchen Severn, Reva Rasmussen and Liza Summers and three brothers, Clifton, Elton and Lawrence Summers.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Her son Robert will officiate with burial in Grant Twp Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 AM until the time of services Thursday.
