Lorna Kline

Lorna Margaret (Bernthal) Kline passed from this world to be with her Heavenly Father on May 24, 2020. She passed peacefully in her home in the company of her family. She joins her husband, Aldine; her parents, Edwin and Florence; her in-laws, Raymond and Gladys; her sisters and their husbands, Loraine and Bill Heinlein, Beatrice and Delbert Bamberg; one brother, Raymond (presumed); and a multitude of Christian friends who left before her. In addition, Lorna was predeceased by brothers-in - law, Jerome Kline, Charles Kline, Lyle Boyd and Ron Wold; sister-in-law, Geraldine Wold; nephew, Roger Bamberg; and niece, Michelle Wold. Born February 13, 1936 in the front bedroom of the family farmhouse on M81 in Reese, she was the great-granddaughter of Johann Leonard Bernthal, who in 1845 was one of the original fifteen settlers of Frankenmuth. Lorna's plan was threefold. First, marry a Christian farmer who had enough grit and tenacity to own his own farm. She did this in December of 1961 in St Paul, Minnesota. Second, have a family to hoe beans and teach about Jesus. This started with Michael Aldine (Eileen) in 1963, then Douglas Raymond (Linda) in 1965, and then David Edwin (Jane) in 1967. All survive her. Finally, teach children to read. She started this by getting an education from Concordia, River Forest, Illinois. She went on to teach in Eliria, Ohio, and then moved to St Paul, Minnesota to teach at Gethsemane Lutheran School followed by Trinity Lutheran School in Reese, where she helped start the pre-school program. After fifteen years at Trinity (when all her boys were out of the house), Aldine and her took a detour to a small village west of Katmandu, Nepal while serving in the Peace Corps. She finished with Caro Community School as a first grade volunteer until February 2020. As you can see Aldine and Lorna were adventurous travelers, having set foot and camped in just about every state in the USA. They enjoyed square dancing, camping, and naturally square dance camping. Lorna used her talents in ceramics to create nativity sets and give them as gifts to many special people. If you have one of these, you are special. Through LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League), she helped sew hundreds if not thousands of quilts for children in crisis hoping that some of them would grow up and experience and accept the love of Jesus. Surviving her besides her children and their spouses are her grandchildren, Patrick Kline, Shannon (Dan) Wachowski, Meghan Kline, Pamela Kline, Jonathan Kline, Jubilee Kline and Noelle Kline. Her sister Arletta (Robert) Adams, sisters-in-law Marleen Kline, Patricia Boyd and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with Lorna's wishes, cremation has taken place.
