Lorraine Mcleod

Lorraine McLeod (Alice Lorraine) of Caro, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021 at United Hospice of Marlette. Lorraine was born January 9, 1930 in Caro, the daughter of the late Lester and Louisa Hutchinson. She was united in marriage with John McLeod on December 7, 1946 and they were happily married for sixty-one years prior to his death in 2007. Together they raised three wonderful daughters and a son, Johnny (John Lester) who preceded them in death in 1959. Lorraine worked at the Caro State Hospital as a cook for sixteen years. She brought many recipes from home that were shared with her co-workers and other cooks. She worked to teach her daughters to cook and bake (except Ruth Ann) and they still enjoy that skill today. Lorraine and John started in the real estate business with Wallace Ranke and worked with him until they opened their own real estate business in 1969. As their daughters started their individual families, they were drawn to the real estate business and continue to keep the family business alive with offices in the Caro and Millington areas. Lorraine decided to try a new adventure and purchased United Health Services in Caro in 1982. She stayed with that business until 2015. As John and Lorraine decided on retirement their plan led them to move to Stuart, Florida. There, once again, they started a new business, an automotive business, Premier Cars, Inc. After John passed away, Lorraine moved back home to Caro in 2008. Lorraine was a lifelong member of the Caro First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She was also a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Lorraine loved shopping, flowers, traveling, and most of all her pets, Gizzy, her dog, and Precious, her cat. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters and their spouses, Ruth Ann Altenhof, Nancy & Tom Fritz, Darleen & Roger Hood; seven grandchildren; and her beloved great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Lorraine was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Carl Altenhof. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 with Rev. Michele Hile officiating.
