Lorraine Mary Stamate, age 75, of Caro, passed away on September 15, 2009 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on April 1, 1934 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to the late John and Helen (Messavage) Wisnewski. Lorraine was raised in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and graduated from high school there. As a young lady, she and her family moved to Detroit in search of jobs. She moved to Caro in 1966. Lorraine was a homemaker and throughout her lifetime she was involved in outside jobs. In later years, she taught classes at her ceramic shop. Lorraine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Tuscola County Polish American Club. She enjoyed the activities at the Senior Commons and playing bingo. She is survived by her children, Donna (Randy) Barrigar of Unionville and David Stamate of Caro, and their father Don Stamate of Caro; three grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer (Daven) Wardynski of Chicago, Illinois, Valerie (Tala) Sakala of Caladonia and Tina Petiprin and Mark Becker of Nashville, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Wardynski; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry (Nancy) Wisnewski of Southfield; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Wisnewski; one daughter, Loretta Stamate; and one granddaughter, Tiffany Lynn Petiprin. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at Almer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
