Lottie M. "Miss Lottie" Podczerviensky age 79 of Bad Axe, former owner of the Hitching Post in Elkton, died Sunday evening, March 18, at her home while under hospice care.
She was born May 24, 1932, in Hamtramck to the late Anthony and Josephine (Czenski) Leon.
On August 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Frank E. Podczerviensky at St. Florin’s Catholic Church, Hamtramck.
They lived in Farmington for 14 years and North Branch for 14 years as well before moving to Elkton in 1987. That year they purchased the Hitching Post Bar and Restaurant. On January 31, 2000, Frank passed away, but Lottie continued operating the business until selling to the current owners in 2006. She moved to Bad Axe that same year.
Lottie was a member of St. Felix Catholic Church, but attended mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe.
Surviving are three children, Frank (Jenny) Podczerviensky of Herndon, VA, Diane Emrick of North Branch and Shelly Podczerviensky of Bad Axe; six grandchildren, Lori, Gregory, Lindsay, Marissa, Jessica and Josephine; five great grandchildren; her brother, Stan Leon of Warren; nephew, Michael (Toni) Leon of Sterling Heights and a great nephew, Michael A.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, March 22 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bad Axe with burial in St Felix Catholic Cemetery.
A parish rosary service will be conduct 6:30 PM Wednesday evening at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Wednesday and at the church after 10 AM Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Felix Cemetery Fund or Sacred Heart Church
