Louis Short

Louis Philip Short, Sr., age 63, of Caro, living much of his married life in the Thumb, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 12th under the care of Hospice of Hope and with his family at his side. He was born on August 23, 1946 in Dearborn to the late Allan and Mabel (Gregoire) Short. On February 3, 1967, Louis was united in marriage with Karen Golembiewski at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dearborn. Throughout his working career, Louis was an over-the-road transportation specialist, most recently driving for Countrywide Transportation. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Mayville Eagles, a bowler on the Friday night league at Brentwood, and a member of the million mile club. He enjoyed watching the Red Wings, trains, bowling, sail boats, cards, pool, pinball, and slots. He is survived by his wife, Karen; three loving children, Louis P. Short, Jr. of Davison, Jefferson R. Short, Sr. of Caro and Cara Lynn (Jay) Sabich of South Lyon; grandchildren, Emily Marie Short of Davison, Ashley Nicole Short of Davison, Nicole Lynn Short of South Lyon, Jefferson Robert Short Jr. of Caro and Chelsea Beth Short of Caro; one brother, Michael (Kim) Short of Algonac; two sisters, Margaret Mary (Al) Alcondray of Columbiaville and Patricia (Greg) Saims of Plymouth; a sister-in-law, Cathy Short of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Joseph Short. The funeral service will be held at Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Louis P.
