Lowell D. “Pete” Swartzendruber, 79, of Pigeon, died Monday, January 28, 2019 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Pete was born September 15, 1939 in Winsor Twp to the late Glenn and Erma (Yoder) Swartzendruber. He graduated from Pigeon High School. He married Cathern M. Noakes on September 22, 1963 at Central Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Pete worked as a poultry farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Michigan Ave. Mennonite Church and enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He was a knowledgeable and caring man, who would help anyone. He was an all around handyman and jack of all trades. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Cathern; children Jenny (Gary) Cygan of Sebewaing, Eric of Pigeon and Laura Ewald (Jeff Janes) of Caro; grandchildren Sarah (Matt) Herman, Danielle (Jason) Goslin, Justine and Lucas Swartzendruber, Kayla and Dakota Ewald and Madison Jones; great-grandchildren Colton and Taylor Goslin; and brother Clarence Swartzendruber of Pigeon.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon Saturday, February 2nd at the Michigan Avenue Mennonite Church with Rev. Thomas Beachy officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00am Saturday at church and continue until the service time at noon.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons International or Thumb Bread Basket.
