Lucille Emma Fuerst

Lucille E. Fuerst, age 90, of Sebewaing, passed away February 5, 2018, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro.

Lucille and her twin sister, Luella, were the first set of twins born to Albert and Amanda (Binder) Gettel on July 24, 1927. Lucille was born and lived in Huron County her entire life. Lucille was a hard worker, working many jobs including many years at Michigan Sugar Company. Lucille was an excellent cook. Her german potato salad was the best. She enjoyed working in her yard, music performances and plays. Lucille outlived the age of her parents and some of her siblings. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing.

Lucille married Edward H. Fuerst on September 8, 1945, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bach, MI. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2011.

Lucille is survived by her children: Janet Reithel of Lapeer and Gene Fuerst (Beth Terrill) of Sebewaing; granddaughter, Miranda Fuerst of Sebewaing; sisters: Lorene Reich of Unionville/Clinton Twp., Dorothy (Marvin) Dowe of Vassar and Carol Ann Mathis of Florida; sister-in-laws: Marilyn Gettel of Caro, Margaret Gettel of Lapeer, Johanna Fuerst of St. Helen, Luella Calvin of Washington state; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; brothers: Vern, Omar, Merlin (Bob), Arnold, Loren, Ivan and Burton (Butch); sisters: Aldine Sbresny and twin Luella Gettel; and son-in-law, Robert Reithel.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Tuscola County Medical Care for the special care that was given to our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 4-8pm.

The service will be Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Tuscola County Medical Care Center – Forget Me Nots.
