Lucille M. Michalak, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Satchells Retirement Home, following a short illness. She was born on August 26, 1926 in Pinconning, the daughter of the late Michael and Rosa (Vareda) Kish. She was born five minutes before her twin brother, Edwin. Lucille was united in marriage with Joseph T. Michalak on June 21, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro. Joe preceded her in death on August 8, 2000. As a young girl, Lucille worked on the family farm, and at age 16 had a job at the Hotel Montague. After World War II, she went to work at the Caro Regional Center where she remained for thirty years until her retirement in 1982. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing Bingo, having family parties and attending her grandchildrens events. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Caro and a past member of Caro V.F.W. Post #4164 Auxiliary and the State Employee Retirement Association. She is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Richard and Gretta (Siems) Michalak of Tawas City, Alan and Karen (Karner) Michalak of Caro, Roselyn and Ken Martin, Jr. of Cass City; six grandchildren, Brent, Wynn, Kellen, Andrew, Emily and Erika; her twin brother, Edwin Kish of Midland; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Kish of Bay City and Elaine Kish of West Branch. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation.
