Lucille "Ceal" Sopchik

Lucille Mae Sopchik of Caro, age 76, passed away at Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw on Friday, April 20, 2017. The former Lucille Parker was born October 18, 1940 in Pontiac. She was united in marriage with Raymond Sopchik, and he preceded her in death in 2008. Lucille moved to Caro in 1946 where she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was very involved in its activities, including Steven Ministries, LWML as its chair and co-chair, quilters group, OLLI and JOY (Just Older Youth). She was a homemaker who volunteered for recycling projects, funeral luncheons, Bethesda Thrift Shop, Action Thrift Shop, food bank at the Methodist Church, walked miles for warmth, took a Haiti Mission trip, LWML state convention, 4-H activities and many service events activities. Ceal enjoyed painting, woodworking, gardening, and fishing. She is survived by a sister, Marilyn & Dale Cubitt of Bad Axe; a sister-in-law, Laura Parker of Caro; her nieces and nephews, David & Terri Craig, Diane Aymer, Sally & Mark Pifer, Mark & Janye Parker, Scott & Michell Parker, Lon & Linda Parker, Pam & Brian Wineski, Brenda & Russ Phelps, Lee Parker and Ken Parker; as well as great- nieces and nephews. Lucille was also blessed with numerous lifelong friends. Most special was being a Godmother to Cody Hergenreder. In addition to her parents and husband, Ceal was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin, Marvin, and Leo Parker. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Family and friends will be in attendance from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
