Lucille Eustice Walter of Caro, formerly of Waterford, passed away at age 104 and 11 months, on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living in Caro. Lucille was born November 14, 1919, in Painesdale, to the late William Henry and Mary Jane (Thomas) Eustice. At an early age, the family moved to Pontiac. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1937 and attended Pontiac Business School. She married the love of her life, Adolph Edward Walter, on November 29, 1941, in Pontiac. On December 7, 1941, Adolph was drafted to fight in World War II in Europe.
Lucille was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring grandmother, and blessed great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Lucille was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Lions, Michigan State University, and the University of Michigan, watching whatever sports were in season. She was a wonderful cook and baker.
Left to cherish her memory are two children: Carl (Micheline) Walter of Holly and Barbara Ruckle of Caro; four grandchildren, Matthew Walter of Wyoming, Michigan, Jarrod (Meghan) Ruckle of Polk City, Iowa, Michael Ruckle of Winterberg, Switzerland, and Trevor Ruckle of Rapid City, Michigan; nine great-grandchildren: Aidra, Ella, Kedzie, James, Evan, Julia, Martha, Austin, and Lonna Ruckle. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Adolph Walter; her sister, Florence May and brother-in-law, Gordon Woolcock; special nephew, Brian Woolcock and niece, Diane Woolcock Stephens.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro. Michele Hile will officiate with the burial held privately at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Clarkston. The family will be present to receive visitors on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Friends of the Caro Library or Great Start Tuscola Imagination Library.
