Lynn Marie Hayward of Vassar, age 67, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her home. Lynn was born January 16, 1958 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Tyrone and Virginia (Hyslop) Price. She graduated with the Class of 1976 from Carl Brablec High School in Roseville. On December 28, 2001, Lynn married Richard K. Hayward, and together they shared a loving marriage until his passing in 2014. A determined and creative spirit, Lynn went on to pursue a career as an entrepreneur, embracing opportunities with enthusiasm and dedication. She also served as the manager of the Tuscola Area Airport and held a variety of other roles throughout her life. Outside of work, Lynn loved expressing herself through crafting and took joy in making handmade creations and traveling. She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother, always cherishing time spent with her family. Her kindness, creativity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Lynn’s memory are three children and their spouses, Nicole & Jeff Sharp, Jamie & Kevin Raymond, and Thomas Matako, II & Briana Ulrich; Richard’s children, John Hayward, Holly Thomas, David & Jesse Hayward, and Susan & David Clement; siblings, Brenda Price and Susan & Steven Trantham; cherished niece, Janine Zager; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents and loving husband, Lynn was preceded in death by two uncles, Ken Starr and David Hyslop; and the father of her children, Thomas Matako.
Lynn’s family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance being held at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Civil Air Patrol, c/o Owosso Community Airport.
