Madalyn B. Krohn

October 24, 1916 — September 16, 2007

Madalyn Bridget Krohn, 90 years old, of Elkton, died suddenly on Sunday, September 16, at the Huron Medical Center, Bad Axe.
She was born October 24, 1916, one of nine children of Daniel and Elizabeth (McCormick) McGee in Souletown. The McGees were a musical family and were known in the area for the great dance music they could play. They had a complete band except for a saxophonist. They found the perfect addition to their band and the perfect husband for Madalyn, Charles Krohn, better known as Chuck. Chuck and Madalyn were married on August 11, 1943, at Sacred Heart Church in Bad Axe.
Chuck and Madalyn were farmers and loved the land. Madalyn enjoyed working alongside Chuck especially if she could run the farm machinery. She could drive anything and much preferred that to housework. Madalyn was also an excellent seamstress and made a lot of clothes and costumes for her family. She loved children and would have her nephews and nieces as well as neighborhood children take turns staying at the house. They got so spoiled they would often not want to go home when their parents came to get them.
Madalyn is survived by her son, Larry (Colleen) Krohn of Elkton and daughter, Jayne (Jerry ) White of Port Austin; three grandchildren Charles W. (Bronwyn) Krohn of Rochester Hills, Jennifer M. Krohn, a student at Michigan State University, and Sara Jayne White of Mesa, AZ. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Maxine Harbin of Phoenix, AZ and Lena McGee of Elkton as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Preceding her in death were four sisters and their spouses: Margaret and Russell Light, Loretta and Matthew McLellan, Winnifred and Ted Dowde, and Annabelle and MacDonald Louks; four brothers and their spouses, Martin and Marie McGee, James and Jean McGee, Frank McGee and Vincent McGee; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Myron and Dorothy Adams and Paul and Alice Esch.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 19, at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Pigeon. Burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Elkton, following the service.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton on Tuesday, from 3 to 8 PM and at the church after 10 AM Wednesday.
Memorials made be made to St. Francis Borgia Altar Society.
